Youk Gets Well-Deserved Raise
The Boston Globe's Amalie Benjamin is reporting that Kevin Youkilis, who is under Red Sox control until 2010 and made just $424,500 last season, has agreed to a one year contract with the Sox worth $3 million. Youk shouldn't be too upset, as the number he requested was just $700K more than what he and the Sox settled on (the Sox, on the other hand, came in offering $2.525 million). You have to figure that with the Sox paying guys like Julian Tavarez $3.35 million and $8 million plus for half a season of Curt Schilling if we're lucky, Youk's $3 million deal will be a relative bargain compared to his expected output by the end of the 2008 season.
