That's Just UMass Being UMass

Oh, sorry friends, that's just what it looks like when I mash my fists repeatedly into the keyboard.
In case you missed it last week, your UMass Minutemen blew a 17-point halftime lead to Charlotte in the A-10 quarterfinals and were consequently not asked to come play in the NCAA Tournament this week. Par for the course with UMass really, as they haven't won a friggin' A-10 Tourney game since '02 (resisting more fist mashing), but this collapse stings all the more because the Minutemen had a good team this year that could've done some damage as a lurking 10-11-12 seed. Now that they're a 2-seed in the NIT this year - senior Gary Forbes's last season in Amherst - we'll all just have to wonder what could've been. The Mayor is a UMass alum and plays this game frequently!
As the #3 seed in a relatively strong A-10 this year, a win over Charlotte would've punched UMass's ticket to the NCAAs in all likelihood. The Minutemen came on strong at the end of the season, reeling off six straight conference wins to finish at 10-6, behind only Xavier and Temple, both tournament-bound. Add in a pretty strong non-conference showing this year and the Minutemen all but locked up a spot in the NCAAs — until they blew a SEVENTEEN-POINT HALFTIME LEAD IN THE MOST IMPORTANT GAME OF THE YEAR. As usual, they have no one to blame but themselves.
Now, back to the keyboard mashing.
