WEEI's Ordway Returns to Air Following Family Crisis

Driving to the local corner store the other day (and I wasn't wearing my seatbelt, against the advice of those old Click It or Ticket commercials), I recognized a familiar voice on WEEI 850 AM; it was none other than the scratchy, sometimes high-pitched intonations of "Big Show" host Glenn Ordway.  The Big O has missed most of this month due to complications to his wife and newly-born child during childbirth.  I'll be the first to admit, I sometimes find Glenn obnoxious, pushy, condescending and altogether difficult to listen to (a successful radio personality elicits such strong feelings in listeners, so Glenn is clearly on top of his game... in fact, he's perhaps the main reason why WEEI is the most popular sports radio station in the US), but none of that matters when you're talking about the health of the man's family.  The couple's daughter was born without displaying any signs of life (i.e. no heartbeat and she wasn't breathing), leading doctors to perform the same cooling procedure used to save Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everrett's life.  The procedure was deemed a success and was able to centralize and limit the child's brain trauma to a specific part of the brain  As a result, the Ordways expect their daughter to have a very high quality of life.  Recent reports have Mrs. Ordway and the couple's baby girl, Mia, recovering well at home.

We'd like to give The Big O a warm welcome back to the airwaves and we wish Glenn, Sarah and Mia Ordway the best of luck.  It's a wonderful story and while it's a long way from over, it certainly gives us all something to be thankful for and mindful of during this Easter weekend.  If you'd like to leave a message for Glenn and his family, you may do so here at WEEI's website.
