Injury Bug Still Badly Biting the Bruins

The B's have more than their share of injuries right now, not least of which the highly-publicized Manny Fernandez (the 2007 season's initial primary goalie is skating again after undergoing ACL surgery a few months ago) and Patrice Bergeron situations (Berg is said to be making significant progress and will soon undergo a neuro-psychological test to determine if he can begin contact drills).  Here's a quick breakdown of the players currently dealing with various injuries that look to have an impact on the Bruins' playoff push:

Andrew Alberts - Our favorite Kevin James look-alike (another shameless bit of self-promotion) was injured many moons ago after having his face smashed into the boards by the Flyers' Scott Hartnell on November 27th.  He's partaking in contact drills in practice again, a good sign that his recovery is in its final stages.

Andrew Ference - Sustained a leg injury at Montreal on March 22nd and was recently replaced on the roster by Matt Lashoff.  Ference is considered day-to-day; coach Claude Julien thinks he'll be back soon.

Marc Savard - Injured in the same Habs game as Ference thanks to a crosscheck to his back from Steve Begin.  Savy underwent a CT scan and it was decided he'd be kept out of the two back-to-back Toronto games this week due to an undisclosed lower back/torso injury.  He'll be reevaluated later this week and isn't expected to miss a significant amount of time.  Savy's second in the league in assists with 63 helpers, so a prolonged absence would be devastating to this club to say the least.

Chuck Kobasew - Kobasew (or KOSS-A-BOO, as a drunk guy on the T pronounced it after the last B's game I attended) is the latest in a long line of key B's players to go down.  He was hurt during the first period of tonight's 6-2 victory over the Leafs and appeared to sustain a lower leg injury after taking a Zdeno Chara slapper off the shin.  No news yet on the extent of the injury, but it didn't look good as Chuck wasted no time in getting off the ice and hobbling to the locker room.  Chucky's 22 goals are second on the team only to Marco Sturm's 25, so like with Savy, he would be sorely missed if he can't return in the next few games.
