Pats Retain OLB Pierre Woods and OT Wesley Britt

Couple more offseason signings to announce courtesy of The Boston Globe's Mike Reiss - the Patriots today announced the re-signings of exclusive rights free agents Pierre Woods and Wesley Britt.  Woods, primarily a special teamer, appeared in all 16 games last year and recorded 21 tackles including 15 solos.  Rotoworld speculates that Woods would be starting on the outside if the season began today (not an outlandish assertion considering the Pats are pretty thin at linebacker), but they add that such a scenario will likely not come to pass as the Pats will look to further bolster their LB corps through the draft and free agency.  According to Britt's Patriots.com bio, the 320 pound lineman appeared in 4 games, mostly as a reserve special teamer in protection units.

In other Pats news, backup RB Sammy Morris is said to be recovering well from the season-ending chest injury that cut short his stellar 2007 campaign.  Don't read any further if you're one to easily get queasy... the technical term for the injury is a "sternum clavicle separation" and although I couldn't find a WebMD definition for you, I'm sure you can guess what's going on there.  He's expected to be ready for training camp.
