Beckett Scratched from Start; Pauley Gets the Call(ey)

Red Sox ace Josh Beckett will miss another start, this time with a stiff neck. Beckett was suffering from the same flu-like symptoms that have sidelined captain Jason Varitek for a couple games, so this comes as a bit of a surprise. It's not yet known if Beckett will miss a turn in the rotation or if his start will just be pushed back a couple of days. David Pauley will get the spot start and Joe Thurston was sent down to Triple A to make room. Tek's still not 100%, as well, so the Sox are down a second catcher with only Kevin Cash being able to shoulder the load... humorously, Dustin Pedroia offered his services as backup catcher, for what they're worth. While I'm certainly not rooting for a Kevin Cash injury by any stretch of the imagination, I would love to see a scenario play out where Cash gets pulled and Dusty has to resume catching duties behind the dish (assuming the game is already well out of reach, of course). How funny would that be?
