Matsuzaka Lands on Disabled List

Number two starter Daisuke Matsuzaka has been placed on the disabled list retroactive to May 28th. The Sox are being especially cautious after an MRI revealed a mild strain of Daisuke's right rotator cuff. Daisuke apparently wanted to pitch through the injury, but Sox skipper Terry Francona and the medical staff would have none of it. The rest of the rotation will remain on schedule and more than likely, someone will be called upon (perhaps Justin Masterson) to make a spot start on Tuesday. The team called up 29-year-old Jeff Bailey to take Matsuzaka's spot on the roster. Bailey's a career minor leaguer but has been absolutely destroying International League pitching at Triple A Pawtucket. In 50 games with the PawSox, Bailey's amassed a .318 AVG, .412 OBP, 16 HR and 44 RBI.
