This draft turned out to be one composed of selections of many high upside players, but with that comes the need for the Red Sox to drop a lot of money on signing bonuses. The players in bold are the players that were ranked by either Baseball America or PG Crosschecker in their pre-draft coverage and they are the ones who will command the largest signing bonuses. Bubba Meyer could command the largest bonus, something rumored to be around the $2 million mark. At 6-7, 200 lbs. and already throwing in the low to mid 90's, Meyer has a ton of projection left and could headline this draft class if signed. It should be noted that the players in bold are not the only ones who could get large bonuses; any of the high school guys could get more money than slot. Also, we saw the Red Sox commit significantly to upgrading the catcher position in this draft, taking 3 backstops in the top 10 rounds. Looks like the search for a Varitek replacement is on.
