Maybe it's the weather up in Washington... maybe it's because they had to announce a sweep of the Sox by the AL-leading Angels... maybe they're still on East Coast time and the 3 hour time difference was making them loopy...

Whatever the reason, Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo did not bring their A-games to Safeco Field last night. First, Remdawg dropped the line "Varitek catch-up-es with one" (apparently a variation of the more commonly accepted phrase "catches up with one"), then Diamond Don closed out an inning with the line "He did it with miminal effort" in reference to the DP Papelbon forced Raul Ibanez to ground into.

With gems like those coming from the guys that get paid to do the games, who needs special guests like Lenny Clarke and Dennis Leary coming into the booth to provide comic relief?
