Wakefield to DL, Replacement Unknown

Tim Wakefield has been scratched from his Tuesday start and is headed to the DL. The problem is reported to be stiffness in his shoulder, the same injury that kept him sidelined throughout the World Series.

One of the Sox' most reliable starters through 117 games, Wake's got 7 wins with a 3.67 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 98 Ks. The 42-year old's allowed 3 or fewer earned runs in 18 of his 23 starts. Wakefield has missed time in each of the last 2 years due to various injuries.

Wake's replacement hasn't been announced, but speculation has fellow knuckleballer Charlie Zink getting the nod. In 25 starts at Pawtucket, the 28-year old Zink's got a 13-4 record with a 2.89 ERA and 94 Ks.
