Sox Drop 10 on Rangers... in the First Inning

Well, that's one way to mount an early lead against the MLB's most potent offense.

Highlighted by a pair of 3-run home runs from David Ortiz and a Jed Lowrie 2-RBI double (seems like all Jed knows how to do these days is hit doubles with runners in scoring position... sorry Julio), the Sox crushed Texas starter Scott Feldman to the tune of 10 runs (4 earned) in the bottom of the first. In one of the most action-packed, back-and-forth games of the season, two starters - Ortiz and Pedroia - already had multi-hit games by the end of the first inning. For the baseball history enthusiasts among you, the Sox fell just 4 runs shy of tying the record for most runs scored in the first inning by a single team, which is held by - you guessed it - the Red Sox. Needless to say, Feldman had an early night, leaving the game after 2.2 innings. Better luck next time, Scott!

Perhaps more importantly than the fact the Sox won in a game that saw both teams tie the AL mark for most combined runs scored in a single game, I'm wondering if D.O.'s line "Ya kidding me!?" (which he belted out after Youk's 8th inning homer) will make it into his permanent repertoire with other classics like "Down by way of the K." Only time will tell.
