C's Taking a Chance by Signing Darius Miles

The Celtics today agreed to a one-year contract with free agent Darius Miles. The former third overall pick (2000) hasn't played since the 2005-06 season and faces a 10-game suspension for violating the league's drug policy, but in 6 seasons the versatile swingman averaged 10.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. The deal-maker for the C's is the fact that it's a non-guaranteed contract, so Miles is essentially competing for a roster spot just like any other fringe bench player. A nice low risk, potentially high reward outside-the-box signing for Ainge and the C's.

In other Celts news, the team announced their agreement with second round draft pick Bill Walker.
