Sports' Spitting Images - Jay Mariotti & Jesus Sauceda

You're looking at newspaper hack Jay Mariotti and Little League World Series star Jesus Sauceda.

Mariotti worked for the Chicago Sun-Times for the past 17 years before resigning to "pursue other opportunities" just several days ago. Deadspin has the real take on his resignation, while the Sun-Times itself captures the lack of remorse from readers and colleagues alike regarding Jay's departure. Absolutely priceless. Judging from all the feedback, it's quite possible that Mariotti has become the most hated man in sports journalism. Moving on, the 13-year-old Sauceda is known for throwing a perfect game and hitting a grand slam all in the same contest during the LLWS (a 12-0 victory over Italy). Unfortunately for Sauceda and his Team Mexico teammates, they couldn't overcome Team Hawaii in the championship game.

Given the age difference between the two, as well as the obvious dissimilarity in ethnicity and country of origin, perhaps this could be some sort of father-son tandem. They obviously don't look exactly alike as Mariotti's got the worst hair this side of Carrot Top and Sauceda has yet to develop the full-blown double chin Mariotti currently sports, but it looks like Jesus could be Jay's kid or something. At least a nephew. I'm sure someone at the Sun-Times has some info on whether or not Mariotti was covering anything for the paper in Mexico about 13 years and 9 months ago, and if they do we'd love to hear about it.

And just because we really, really don't like Mariotti, here are a couple more shots sure to elicit a bit of laughter this Friday morning:

(Strike a pose, Jay. Strike an effing pose.)
