Brady Goes Down with Knee Injury in First Quarter
(Is your knee supposed to bend like that, Tom?)The worst fear of every member of "Patriots Nation" has been realized as Tom Brady was forced out of the Pats' first regular season game with a left knee injury.
The injury occurred on a normal enough play, with KC safety Bernard Pollard blitzing up the middle. Sammy Morris picked up the blitz and laid the block on him, but Pollard scrambled on his hands and knees and crashed into Brady's left leg, which was planted firmly in the turf as he was just finish his throwing motion. Brady immediately went down in clear pain and began grabbing at his left knee. He left for the locker room, likely to be examined and get X-rays taken.
Matt Cassel replaced Brady and completed his first four passes. He even led the Pats on an impressive 98-yard scoring drive to get their first points of the season on the board.
More on Brady when it's available; he's officially questionable to return to the game.
