While you were sleeping...

14 innings, 14 pitchers, 20 hits and 58 men left on base later, the Sox dropped another game to the Rays, who now lead the East by 2.5 games. Dusty hit his 46th and 47th doubles of the season and Youk drove in RBI number 100, but Old Man Timlin gave it away in the 14th. Haverhill native Carlos Pena did the honors, jacking an opposite field 3-run home run off the 42-year-old, whose ERA jumped to an abysmal 6.09 after Pena's jack.

Other forgettable performances: Bay (0-for-7, 3 K, 7 LOB), Ellsbury (1-for-7, 1 K, 8 LOB), Ortiz (0-for-4, 2 BB, 1 K, 4 LOB), Kotsay (1-for-6, 1 K, 2 LOB).
