Red Sox Weekly Recap 9/14 - 9/20

9/14 vs. Toronto Blue Jays (4-3 W)
The Sox faced a tall task going up against Cy Young candidate Roy Halladay (7 IP, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K), but Lester (8 IP, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K) was up to the challenge. Papi hit his first triple of the year (the 13th of his career) and Coco had a pair of RBI to help Lester pick up his 15th win of the season.

9/15 at Tampa Bay Rays (13-5 W)
It was nice to see Dice-K (5 IP, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K) pick up his 17th win of the season, but it was even more nice to see the offense rough up the Rays' undisputed ace in Scott Kazmir (3 IP, 9 ER, 4 BB, 2 K). The Sox totaled six homers as Papi, Tek and Youk combined for nine of the club's 13 RBI.

9/16 at Tampa Bay Rays (2-1 L)
If the Rays aren't one of the most impressive late-inning teams in the league, I don't know who is. This time, it was Dioner Navarro doing the honors as he drove in Jason Bartlett in a bases-loaded situation. Beckett (8 IP, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K) was outstanding, but the Sox were only able to muster five hits on offense.

9/17 at Tampa Bay Rays (10-3 L)
Alright, this one really hurt. Wake (2.1 IP, 6 ER, 0 BB, 2 K) got shellacked - I think I said this one already, but you're in a pretty significant bind if Willy Aybar, Gabe Gross and Fernando Perez take you deep with relative ease. Once again, the hits were sparse for the visitors as only Ellsbury, Dusty, Papi and Youk contributed in that department.

9/19 at Toronto Blue Jays (4-3 W)
Nice bounce-back win for the hometown team. Byrd (6 IP, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) was adequate, but this one was won in the ninth. Tek grounded in to a fielder's choice while Bay was able to sneak in the back door to take the lead. Pap (1 IP, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K) slammed the door shut for his 39th save.

9/20 at Toronto Blue Jays (6-3 L)
Things never come easy for the Sox. This was the first game they were able to clinch a playoff spot, but Halladay (6 IP, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 K) kept that from happening. Scott Rolen hit his 10th homer of the year off Masterson (1 IP, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K), while Bay hit his ninth since joining the Sox.
