Patriots lose Harrison for season, career in jeopardy

Safety Rodney Harrison is out for the rest of the season, and his career may be over, after he suffered a torn quadriceps muscle in his right leg during the third quarter of last night's win over the Broncos.

The 35-year-old was leading the team with 45 total tackles (27 solo, 18 assisted), 1 forced fumble, and 2 pass deflections.

Although it's still a bit early to speculate on whether or not this will force Rodney out of football for good (the guy's come back from serious injuries before), I'd still like to thank him for six years of not taking shit from anyone while with the Pats, forcing opposing players to fear for their lives when going over the middle, and lastly, for flapping his arms after intercepting Donovan McNabb's pass, effectively ending Super Bowl XXXIX, T.O.'s tenure with the Eagles, and Freddy "Fred-Ex" Mitchell's entire career. The guy's an absolute warrior and his absence will no doubt negatively impact an already suspect secondary.

Pro Football Talk speculates that the Pats may look to bring back John Lynch to help fill Harrison's void.
