Pats barely sneak by 2-11 'Hawks, 24-21

Well that was a disheartening win if I've ever seen one. Even with the victory, the playoff picture looks bleak, but maybe the Pats will give us some fireworks in these last few weeks. Here's a list of some positives and negatives from the last game:

On the up and up:
Wes Welker - 12 catches for 134 yards including a long of 25 yards, and every one of those 134 were entirely essential to the success of the team Sunday afternoon. Quite possibly his finest performance to date in a Patriots uniform.

Stephen Gostkowski - Remains perfect from 50+ yards and goes 3-for-3 on the afternoon. Not a bad day when you individually account for 10 points in a 3-point victory.

Matt Cassel - The numbers were mediocre (268 yards, 1 TD, 14 rushing yards), but he almost singlehandedly orchestrated that 21-13 fourth quarter comeback.

Trending downward:
The entire secondary (esp. Jonathan Wilhite) - 212 yards allowed through the air to a quarterback that's better known for his catch and run abilities. Wilhite looked absolutely terrible letting up on that 23-yard Senca Wallace game. Quite bush league, actually.

Offensive line - 3 sacks and 10 more QB hits... one of the worst performances by this group all year.

Running game - 84 yards on 25 carries for a 3.4 yard average. No double digit rushes all game. Could have been worse, but this running game really leaves a lot to be desired.
