I knew this World Baseball Classic thing was a bad idea...

Since the words "David Ortiz playing first base" first started circulating around the Dominican team, I started rethinking my whole stance on the World Baseball Classic. Now that Dustin Pedroia has had to pull out of the WBC due to an abdominal strain, I'm convinced that I despise it and it has little if any value to the common baseball fan. If anything, it's a detriment to the players and fans because a single bad injury to a star player could ruin a team's entire season. As an example, imagine how the Metties would fare if Johan Santana decided to pitch for Team Venezuela and blew out his elbow or some shit. Season's over. If this somehow impacts Dusty's readiness for the season and the outcome of the team's year, I will become a full-on opponent of it. Might even start boycotting in the streets and sending nasty letters to Bud Selig and Don Fehr. Not that I don't do that already. But it would just give me something else to dislike them for.
