How much would you pay for...

... the chance to drive golf balls with Bruins stars Tim Thomas and Milan Lucic?

I was confronted with this very question about a week ago. I was on my way home from picking up my bro and all his shit from college when I happened upon Richardson's in Middleton, Mass. Decent spot, but their ice cream is no Benson's. The folks in the other car I was with noticed a bit of a commotion, saw the Bruins SUV, and decided to check it out. I, however, kept it moving because A) I was in a borrowed truck that I wanted to return ASAP, B) I had to unpack a ton of shit from said truck, C) I was tired as fuck, and D) I knew it would have cost me at least 20 bones to get within 50 feet of Timmy and Looch. Bad deal, I decided.

This may have been a mistake, but I didn't lose any sleep over the decision. In fact, I slept like a baby that night, in case you were wondering. Anyway, I got to pondering how much it would have cost to get to drive a few balls with the boys (apparently they were also having a long-drive/accuracy contest), or even perhaps have something autographed. Organizations these days try to squeeze every penny they can out of their loyal (albeit sometimes naive and misguided) fans, so I'm betting it was at least $20 to hit a few balls and upwards of $50 to get the old John Hancock. Call me a bad fan if you want, but that just ain't worth it. End of story.
