John Henry's overthrowing of the Red Sox continues
(Nice wedding gift, jackass!)John Henry's complete takeover of the Boston Red Sox, NESN, Fenway Sports Group and every other Boston-related sports entity he has his creepy, liver-spotted, loose-skinned hand in took another step forward yesterday as the Sox co-owner posted his first blog entry on NESN.com.
First Henry decided to can vice president of planning and development Janet Marie Smith — you know, the woman that revolutionized the Fenway Park experience by suggesting they add Monster seats, among other innovations — in favor of his new wife, Linda Pizzuti. Now he's decided to use NESN.com as his own personal sounding board. What a fucking joke.
I think the funniest part of this whole thing is that Henry is apparently under the impression that he has something resembling a sense of humor:
I don't know what's more depressing — the fact that we're gonna have to listen to NESN hawking this bullshit on us during every remaining Sox broadcast, or that Henry is so deluded by his own people that he actually thinks he's funny and not one of the weirdest dudes in the world...But I quickly found out that having a sense of humor on Twitter produces quite an effect. Perhaps people don’t generally expect a baseball owner to have a sense of humor. It’s almost certainly of paramount importance to have a sense of humor, though, over the course of the seasons. Tom Werner and I manage to laugh about certain things on a daily basis. When you lose 60 games a year, you need comedy. And Tom’s had a magnificent career in comedy.
