Celts Sign Shaq...Kazaam!

Yeah, that Shaq.  Earlier reports said that there was a bit of a hold-up, but here's the latest report.  Apparently it's a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum salary (1.4 mil), which is astounding considering Shaq made 21 million last year.

I've said all along that Shaq isn't the best option, but if Danny could sign him to the veteran's minimum, it's worth the risk.  He fills a major need up front and is one of the few guys in the league that can defend Dwight Howard one-on-one.

The Big Shaqtus actually has a pretty good year last year putting up 12 PPG, 6.7 RPG, and 23.4 Mins.  He averaged 13.5 points against the Celts last year in the playoffs.

At the very least, Shaq brings a 7'1" 325- pound beast frame, who can rebound and be relied on as the 6th or 7th scoring option.

So let the nicknames begin!  I've heard Red AuerShaq, the Big St. Shaqrick, the Big Leprechaun.  But I'm going with mine until Shaq says what he's using: Big Baby Diesel.

UPDATE:

Reports out now are that Big Baby Diesel signed on for two-years with the C's, worth 2.8 mil.
