BREAKING NEWS THAT NO ONE CARES ABOUT: Trent Whitfield Out for the Season

Who? I know, right.  But trust me, it's good news.  It's never a good thing to lose depth, but I'm okay with it in this case because Trent Whitfield very well could be the worst player in the NHL.  Let's put it this way: there is something to be said about him making the NHL, but I sure as hell won't say it.

But, anyways, the news out of Boston today is that he tore his Achilles tendon...gross.  It sucks for him and I'm sure he's a good dude, but there's no doubt in my mind that he was picked last in hockey games at every level.

Also, I can't believe things keep going the Bruins way right now.  First we get Horton and Campbell for a guy who was booed at home (Wideman) somehow, then we draft a potential star in Tyler Seguin thanks to Toronto GM Brian Burke, now we don't have to awkwardly watch as Trent Whitfield struggles to play hockey.

I'm sure some of you are wondering why I dislike Trent Whitfield so much and it is mostly for two reasons.

1) He has no discernible skills.  He's not great at something.  He's an okay skater, with no moves, and a weak shot.  The best part of his game is defense and he's not even great at that like most grinders are.

2) He is blocking the way for younger, better players to have a crack at the big club.  Guys like Brad Marchand, Mikko Lehtonen, and even Zach Hamill were secondary choices for the coaching staff because they always called up Whitfield.  And this year, he might have been called up before Jordan Caron and Joe Colborne.  No deal.

So rest assured, B's fans, Trent Whitfield's not walking through that door.
