NHL Trying to Solve the Goal Line Crisis

So I'm sure you have heard about the NHL Research and Development Camp that has been going on recently.  If not, this is their blog.  There have been some stupid ass ideas like 2-on-2 OT, but a few rules might stick.

The first rule I like is putting clear plexiglass on the top of the net as a substitute for netting.  The idea would be that it is easier to distinguish goals, facilitating the decisions of the goal line gods in Toronto.  Take a look:

I really like this idea, which I'm guessing couldn't have been conceived without the help of a little ganj (that's street talk for marijuana).  Of course there could be some weird bounces when players go top shelf, but it is so much clearer than having netting there.

Another rule having to do with goal lines that I think will be instituted is the yellow line 3 inches behind the goal line, with the idea being if any part of the puck touches the yellow line, it is an obvious goal.  Here's a picture from prohockeytalk.com:

If both of these ideas are instituted, it would go a long way to solving the goal line crisis.
