Mankins: "My hope and intention is that I'll be a Patriot and go into the Patriots Hall of Fame"

I literally just heard about this right now.  I'm sure you've heard Bob Kraft's side of the Logan Mankins contract-gate by now, but I just heard what Bob said Logan told him when they were talking.

Yesterday on WEEI, Kraft was explaining how the conversation with Logan Mankins went and he said this:

“And he said that, ‘My hope and intention is that I’ll be a Patriot and go into the Patriots Hall of Fame.’ I said the same thing to him.”

I had heard that Mankins apologized, but not that he said he wants to be a Patriot.  It might not seem like a big deal, but for a guy who three weeks ago treated the Patriots like an ex-wife, it's good to see that quote.

Kraft's comments led NESN Daily (which is just an awful show by the way) to ask the Globe's Shalize Manza Young and NESN.com's Jeff Howe if they thought a deal would get done.

"'I think this might be laying the groundwork to get a deal done,' Manza Young said of what Kraft said. 'I think Logan's realizing how much he's missing football, how much he misses his teammates, and this team is going to need him.'"

"'It's probably only a matter of time before they get him signed and get him back into the locker room,' Howe said after revealing he thought a deal may never get done until Monday."

The bottom line is nobody knows what the hell was said outside of the people in that room on that day.  You can believe whatever you want, but that's the truth.

At the same time though, it's hard to believe that a deal wasn't close considering Kraft said the Pats offered him "Mangold money" and Mangold makes more moneys than almost any offensive lineman in the NFL.  Who knows, I could see Mankins signing soon.

Maybe before the Pats have to play a certain team with green jerseys who have the best defense in the league.  Hint fucking hint, Patriots.

But keep it locked because I feel like Mankins could be back quicker than slower and by quicker than slower, I mean sooner than later.
