Hot Off the Presses: Sox Re-Sign Varitek
This shit just broke like now. Sean McAdam and Peter "Game Time" Gammons are reporting that the Sox are bringing back Tek for 2 mil next year.
So it looks like the backstops next year are set with Tek and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. The Captain will most likely start against lefties and Salty will start against righties.
At least they both have cool nicknames, though. So that's something.
It could be worse, I guess. Obviously I wanted to pimp slap Theo after he let VMart walk, but I'd rather have Tek backing up Salty than like Rod Barajas or A.J. "frosted tips douche bag" Pierzynski.
He will be able to mentor Salty better than anyone in the game, he can still hit from the right side, and he's still one of the best game callers in the MLB.
Plus, we can keep the Heidi Watney jokes going now.
