The End of an Era

I feel like I just watched that part in The Land Before Time where Little Foot is chasing the cloud that looks like his mother.  Just incredibly dejected right now.

Not because the Celts lost, not because the season is over, but because it could very well be the end of an era.

I don't know about you, but I've enjoyed the last four years which truly brought legitimacy back to the Celtics.

For at least a couple years, the Celts weren't the laughing stock of the NBA; running out future postal workers and putting up 24-win seasons.

It was legitimately a complete culture shift.  They went from 24 wins to 66 wins, the best turnaround in the history of the NBA.

Gone were the days of Paul Pierce egging on the Boston crowd to boo him and Tony Allen suffering a season-ending injury due to trying to dunk after the whistle.  Those days were replaced with a no-nonsense, inspirational, singular movement towards one goal: winning.

Egos didn't even make it to the door before being thrown out.  Responsibility was no longer an option, but a requirement.

Suddenly, the franchise which had lost all of it's admirable qualities was reinvigorated with the ways of the past.  They taught us that anything's possible.  And it was awesome.

So, if this really is the end of an era, I just want to say thank you to the Celtics for bringing legitimacy back to such a storied franchise, even if it was for only a few short years.

Go B's.
