So Doc Got a 5-Year Extension...

I didn't see that coming. I don't think anybody did.
But Doc Rivers is the proud new owner of a 5-year extension worth 35 mil.
So here's the bad news: the Celts are old as shit and this team, as currently assembled, will almost assuredly not win another championship.
Here's the good news: I highly doubt Doc agreed to an extension without at least a conversation with Danny Ainge about the future of the organization. Meaning I would bet like 10 bucks that DA spoke with him about what he intends to do to try and keep the C's competitive, and Doc liked it.
Also, I was thinking today that Doc might want to hang around to try and draft his kid, Austin Rivers.
Austin is the top-rated high school basketball player and will attend Duke in the fall.
I think the thought process is that, if he has a mediocre freshman year and declares for the draft, the Celts will draft him for his future potential.
The cool thing here is that Doc and Austin could kind of coordinate when he should declare for the draft.
Like Doc could judge where he thinks the Celts will pick and where Austin would go in the draft. And they could conceivably do this year-to-year until something lines up.
It's probably illegal as hell, but so is everything these days.

Realy great reading your blog, nice info not sure if I would 100% agree but close enough.
