Dougie's Goin' Deep!
So I was way off with who the Bruins would pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, but not because it was a bad guess. It was because there were a couple of surprise picks that forced some sick talent to drop.
One of those guys is Dougie Hamilton. No one thought that Dougie was going to be on the board at 9. You could even see the smile on Chiarelli's face after he picked him.
But I'm happy as a fucking clam that Dougie fell to the B's. He's a perfect fit.
He's a 6'4" beast who is a great passer out of his own zone and just a great passer in general.
Considered an offensive defenseman, Dougie put up a 12-46-58 line in 67 games last year in the OHL. Pretty dirty.
Plus, he has a mean streak, which is always welcome in Boston.
He's only 187 pounds right now, but once he puts on weight, he should be a perfect fit in Boston.
This also closes the door on the Phil Kessel trade finally.
So a 30 goal scorer who hits like my little sister for a potential superstar in Tyler Seguin, a potential 2nd or 3rd line winger in Jared Knight, and a potential top pairing offensive defenseman in Dougie Hamilton.
I'll take that all damn day.
Oh yeah, and think about this while you fall asleep tonight: the Bruins won the Stanley Cup and had a top 10 pick the next draft.
Not bad.
Here's what Dougie had to say about joining the champs.
Dougie's goin' deep, bitch!
