I'm Calling It: Nathan Beaulieu
This is one of my favorite days of the year: the NHL Draft.
How can you noe love professional sports drafts? It's so entertaining. It should be a holiday.
Anyways, I'm not gonna be able to post who the B's take right after the pick as I am going to a draft party.
So I'm calling it beforehand.
With the 9th pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, the Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins select from the Saint John Sea Dogs, Nathan Beaulieu.
If none of the elite guys fall to 9, I think the B's take Nathan Beaulieu.
He's a 6'3" 191-pound defenseman who shoots left.
He's mostly considered an offensive defenseman who possesses fantastic passing abilities, but has also improved his defensive game so much so that he will most likely be a top 10 pick.
He is a smooth skater and has his offensive game on lock down. But doesn't always play with the mean streak that makes him elite.
Beaulieu has the size and skill to potentially play in the NHL next year or the year after. That might be a tough task if the B's pick him at 9 as their defensive core is pretty solid right now.
But either way, Beaulieu has a good mix of offensive ability and defensive mean streak to make him my pick at 9.
We'll see in a couple of hours if I'm a genius or not.
Peace.
