Better Song by the Pats Secondary: Asante Samuel's "Overtime" VS. Brandon Meriweather's "VIP"
VS.
I was originally just going to do a post about how I genuinely think Brandon Meriweather's song "VIP" is legit.
But then former Patriot Asante Samuel tried to intercept his spotlight (see what I did there?) and throw down his own track so I thought I'd make it into an old-fashioned rap battle.
So who wins?
As a rap aficionado with a sick rap name and a sick rap game, I hate Asante's song. Every song is made or broken by it's hook. And Asante's hook sucks.
Also, it's called production value, guy. I don't like my rap songs to sound like they are being played on phonographs.
Lastly, the video is a minute long. What is this Kidz Bop? I remember my first beer, Asante.
Now on to "VIP."
First of all, let me start by saying I mostly hate Brandon Meriweather. I think he's extremely overrated and loves a big hit more than a big play. Plus, he's the only Patriot I've ever seen give up a 30-yard gain, hit the guy hard, and still celebrate. It's infuriating.
The only positive about Meriweather is that Toucher & Rich tool on him and it's hilarious.
But the dude made a catchy-ass song.
I haven't been able to get the words VIP and swole out of my head for like a week.
I'm probably just gonna start using "swole" in my everyday vocabulary.
I got this post on SWOLE!!!
