BREAKING NEWS: Pats Turn a 5th Rounder into Albert Haynesworth

ESPN is reporting that the Patriots have acquired 700-pound DT Albert Haynesworth from the Redskins for a 5th rounder in 2013.
I think it's pretty clear by now Bill Belichick is addicted to reclamation projects. Whether it's Corey Dillon or Randy Moss, Belichick has a solid track record for adjusting bad attitudes and getting the most out of those players. And, hopefully, you can add Haynesworth to that list.
Albert Haynesworth is a dick. There's really no way around it. But he's really, really good at football. Which is why he's still worth trading for. You can't teach talent.
But his problem in D.C. was that Mike Shanahan was an asshole. And if South Park has taught us anything, it's that if dicks don't screw assholes, they get shit on.
So Haynesworth had no choice, really.
But seriously, the only thing that sucks about this move is that it could go either way. The Pats may have just traded for the best defensive player in the league, or a guy who won't even pass his physical and get cut.
Other than that, this deal is awesome. The Pats essentially traded nothing for a guy who, when right, is one of the best D-linemen in the game. Plus, the Redskins already gave him most of his guaranteed money.
So if he doesn't get his shit together, he'll be cut faster than John Lackey in a non-horse face contest.
If he does get his shit together, he could be better than Vince Wilfork, which is saying a lot. Just think about the possibilities if he gets his shit together:
First of all, where do you run it if you're the offense? We saw last year that teams would run it away from Vince Wilfork when Bill put him at defensive end. Well now they would be running it into Ty Warren and/or Albert Haynesworth. If I'm the offense, that's bullshit. Just not fair.
Secondly, good luck blocking him one-on-one. Haynesworth is 6' 6" and big as fuck. He swallows up O-lines and demands a double team. So do the math. If Big Vince and Haynesworth both require a double team, that creates a lot of gaps for Ty Warren and the linebackers. It's just science.
So we'll see in the coming weeks and hopefully months if Bill can get the most out of Albert Haynesworth. But with the only down side being losing a 5th rounder and cutting his ass, I definitely see this as a worthwhile gamble for the Pats.
Step your shit up, Albert!
