Sox Trade for Bedard...Weak
Well this is fucking bad news bears if I've ever heard it.
The Sox traded for Seattle's SP Erik Bedard and the scouting report on him is that he sucks. They got RHP Josh Fields too, but nobody cares about him.
Seriously, I would have rather Theo traded for a solid reliever and then put Aceves in the rotation.
But he didn't and now we have Erik Bedard and less prospects.
The trade breaks down like this, it was a three-team trade, by the way:
Red Sox Get:
Erik Bedard
Josh Fields
Red Sox Give Up:
Tim Fedorowicz (to the Dodgers)
Juan Rodriguez (to the Dodgers)
Stephen Fife (to the Dodgers)
Chih Hsien Chiang (to the Mariners)
The only two guys I know are Fedorowicz and Chiang.
Fedorowicz was the Sox' most complete catching prospect and Chiang is a guy I wrote about a couple weeks back. He was an All-Star with Will Middlebrooks in AA this year and reports say that he has stupid power, but has developed late.
Oh yeah, and apparently Bedard's a cantankerous d bag too.
As long as he does his own thing and isn't such an asshole that he ruins the clubhouse, then whatever.
