Pats Preseason Thoughts: Game 1

Honestly, these games matter about as much as Lou Vega these days, but I'm not going to stop being observant as hell just because they don't count.
And if you don't know who Lou Vega is, I'll tell you, but you really need to become a cooler person.
Lou Vega. Three words: Mambo Number 5.
The Pats win 47-12 and put up 47 points with I think zero starters in on offense. Except Aaron Hernandez.
Taylor Price and Stevan Ridley had huge days. Taylor Price had a 50-yard run-and-catch and a 40-yard punt returnthat got called back. He ended up with 105 yards and a TD. Ridley rushed for 64 yards, had 47 receiving yards and 3 effing TDs.
Thoughts
-Darius Butler kind of sucks. He needs to step his shit up big time this year or he's going to be the next Terrence Wheatley.
- Gary Guyton still looks like one of the monsters from the movie Time Machine. So that's good to see.
-Aaron Hernandez, you gotta hang on to that ball, bro!
- With the Danny Woodhead fumble, that makes two straight drives opening up with a fumble. That's what happens when you play basically an NFL pick-up game.
- Stevan Ridley's first run made me laugh at NFL scouts who said he was only a between-the-tackles runner. He shake n' baked the shit out of that linebacker.
- We see the first new rule of the NFL season and it takes way too long. Ed Hochuli went under the curtain to review Stevan Ridley's TD and it took like 3 minutes. Keep in mind, the new rule is that EVERY TD will be reviewed, which is good and bad.
- Hoyer is 5-of-6 for 59 yards through one quarter. That'll do, pig, that'll do.
- Total circus catch from Taylor Price for a TD. He brought his big boy hands.
- Dane Fletcher has been explosive so far when he blitzes up the middle.
- Matt Slater might have just secured his roster spot. He just made a sick come back catch off of a bomb from Hoyer.
- Great to see Gostkowski is back and healthy enough to nail a 46 yarder.
- P Chung dropped an interception that was literally thrown right to him. Funny now, not funny in a month.
- Ryan Mallett just threw a 35 yard pass off of his back foot. Big boy arm.
- Mallett's first pro drive: 6-for-8 for 79 yards that ended in a TD. Not bad.
- Buddy Farnham had a couple catches as a WR and an interception as a safety. Kinda cool.
