Pats Preseason Thoughts: Game 2
Pats preseason game 2: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The first thing I thought was that I swear Scott Zolak's face gets squishier and squishier every time I see him. Zo's the man though.
The Bucs are probably the best young team in the NFL. They have an offense that boasts Josh Freeman, Lagerette Blount, and Mike Williams. Their defense isn't fantasy own-able, but they are great at rushing the passer.
So this should be a good test for the Pats tonight.
Most Important Thoughts to Read If You Don't Want to Read the Rest
- Bill took Brady out on the 3rd drive after one play and put Hoyer in for two plays to simulate a Brady injury. That i why Bill Belichick is one of, if not the best coach in NFL history.
- Andre Carter was insane tonight. It seemed like he beat his man every play.
- Brandon Meriweather was getting mop-up duty in the 4th quarter. Bill definitely doesn't like VIP on Swole.
- Aside from a fumble, Stevan Ridley looked very good again.
- Late in the game, Danny Woodhead was out on special teams, for some reason, pursuing a tackle on a punt. Some dude who probably won't be in the NFL this year, lit him up on a blind side block and Woodhead was stumbling while trying to stand. He looked okay on the sidelines, but I doubt he is.
- The D put consistent pressure on the QB in the first half. Andre Carter might be the reason the Bucs' LT gets cut. He was unstoppable.
Thoughts
- Nate Solder is starting in place of Matt Light tonight. He has done a great job so far against 1st round draft pick Adrian Clayborn.
- That first drive by the Pats was way too easy. Like 4 plays that ended in a 17-yard TD. I was giggling like a little girl.
- What a difference a week makes as Aaron Hernandez follows up his two fumbles in the first two drives last week with 3 or 4 great catch and runs in the first two drives this week. Improvement is good.
- Zo might have a really squishy face, but he called that play fake TD to Ochocinco right before it happened. He must have ESPN or something.
- The Pats are getting ridiculous pressure on Josh Freeman early in this game. Everybody is contributing, Jerod Mayo, Kyle Love, Big Vince, Eric Moore, Adre Carter, Gerard Warren.
- Big Vince and Josh Freeman got into a shoving match after a sack. Surprised Big Vince didn't eat him right there.
- This is getting ridiculous. The Pats' supposed best D Line pass rusher, Albert Haynesworth, isn't even playing and the D Line is literally annihilating the Bucs' O Line.
- Brady just got his the exact same way that he did in 2008 when it ended his season. He looked alright, but get him out of the fucking game.
- Jerod Mayo has 3 tackles and 2 sacks so far. It looks like he will be blitzing a lot more this year and when you blitz the best tackler in the game, you not gonna not get results.
