Pats Preseason Thoughts: Game 4

The Pats play a Giants team tonight that just played on Monday night.  So most of their starters will probably be sleeping instead of playing.

But Shaun Ellis and Albert Haynesworth are starting so this should be very entertaining.

Things You Should Know if You Don't Want to Read the Rest of This

- Albert Haynesworth played.  He was solid for being out of shape.  When he wasn't winded, he was moving the line and creating holes for other defenders.  I've also realized that whens he runs, he doesn't bob up and down.  He kind of just moves along without moving up and down like smaller regular people.  It's both funny and intimidating.

- The starting D Line was Big Vince, Shaun Ellis, Andre Carter, and Albert Haynesworth.  That's a lotta beef.

- The big play of the game was a 64-yard catch-and-run from Brady to Matthew Slater.  That play coupled with Brandon Tate's lack of impressiveness will probably lead to Tate being cut.

Thoughts

-
Holy shit balls, the starting D Line was Shaun Ellis, Big Vince, Andre Carter, and Albert Haynesworth.  Annnnd my pants just moved.

- Great pick by Devin McCourty on the Giants' 2nd drive.  David Carr threw it short to Domenik Hixon and McCourty stopped in his tracks and picked it.  Great play.

- Haynesworth blew up a guard and stopped a run single-handedly.  When it was announced, Gillette went crazy.

- Zoltan Mesko is athletic as hell.  Some dude on the Giants ran back a punt and was essentially off to the races.  Then Zoltan came up and dragged his ass out of out of bounds as the guy was going full speed.

- Brandon Tate might've just got himself cut.  He ran out a kick off that was 6 yards deep into the end zone and ran it straight out into defenders to like the 15.  I know you are trying to earn a spot, but you gotta pick your spots.

- Brandon Tate is going to be cut.  Matthew Slater just had like a 64-yard catch and run.  Looked a lot like what Brandon Tate is supposed to do.

- Shaun Ellis just knows what he's doing.

- I just tweeted that #AskRandy&Zo thing "Why is Belichick's shirt tucked in?"  They better answer it.

- That was one of the weirdest plays I've ever seen.  Zoltan punted and the returner miffed the catch.  Then, the Time Machine Monster, Gary Guyton picked it up on the fly and ran it in for a TD.  But then it was called back.  Just weird.

- The new guy Tiquan Underwood got on the field too late on that play.  He was the reason Guyton's TD was disallowed.  Great job, newb.  His last name should be Doe.  Think about it.

- Randy Cross just said, "you talk about penetration being so disruptive..."  That is all.

- Shaun Ellis with his first sack in a Pats uniform.  Thatta boy.

- Shane Vereen has had a couple of cut back runs that were pretty impressive.  And then he had a couple of pretty shitty runs.  You can probably chalk that up to lack of reps.

- Nate Solder came off the block to get out ahead of Shane Vereen up field at one point and it looked like he was running a 4.2.  He then missed the block, but he has ridiculous speed for a O lineman.

- There honestly wasn't anything else of interest late in the 3rd and into the 4th quarter.
