REPORT: Pats Sign G Brian Waters
The Pats signed G Brian Waters today. And I don't think a lot of people in New England, including myself, realize how big of signing this is.
I could be completely wrong, but in my infinite Patriots knowledge, and by all accounts, Brian Waters is a phenomenal signing. As in like, a guy you're not supposed to get off of the scrap heap.
The dude is a five-time Pro Bowler and one of the best community/locker room guys in the NFL. Add that to the fact that the Pats were desperate for a starting guard or at least some guard depth and Brian Waters looks like a god-send.
But here's what will really get your blood a' boilin': in the last NINE years, Waters has missed exactly THREE games.
Also, in 1,065 snaps, Waters did not allow a single sack last year. That's insane.
But apparently, he looked like crapollah this preseason so we'll see what happens.
If he's healthy, Brian Waters is clearly an upgrade over Dan Connolly and even Stephen Neal.
The most apparent problem is that he wears number 54 and I don't care who you are, you're not getting Tedy's number.
