One of These Things is Not Like the Others

The Pats named their captains today and all I could think about was Sesame Street.

I sat that because the 2011 New England Patriots captains are Tom Brady, Jerod Mayo, Big Vince Wilfork, Logan Mankins, Devin McCourty, and...Matt Slater.

I think that is the first and last time Tom Brady and Matt Slater will be uttered in the same sentence.

But back to Sesame Street. I just kept saying in my head, one of these things is not like the others. Like five of these things are captains. But this is a Matthew Slater.

On a side note, I wish I knew someone that talked like the guy in that video when he was talking about the crab. Just an awesome voice.

Seriously though, good for Matt Slater. The dude works his ass off in one of the least desirable roles on a football team. And he's getting pretty damn good at it too.

So good for him.

Also, is there any player in the NFL cooler than Logan Mankins?

I don't really know how to describe it, but the guy shows up Week 8 and is the best guard in the league. Now he's a captain.

It's like he just shows up and beats the shit out of D Linemen when he feels like it. And that's what I would call "cool."

Oh yeah, and good for Devin McCourty. But everybody knows he's legit so we don't have to get into it.
