How Did This Happen?

For the first time in my life, I don't believe in the team I grew up watching.
The Boston Red Sox as an organization, as it currently stands, is a joke.
First, they complete arguably the worst collapse in MLB history (which seems insignificant compared to the recent happenings), then they fire Tito and say he chose to leave, and now Theo Epstein peaces out for the Cubs job.
So Theo builds the best team to ever collapse at the end of a season and then just washes his hands of it and bails.
Honestly, I'm fine with Theo leaving for a better job. You can't really fault him for assuming a bigger role when he would've never been able to do that here with Lucchino in the way.
But the part I have a problem with is that apparently ownership reportedly would prefer getting money back as compensation rather than prospects.
For all of our 3rd grade readers out there, that means ownership doesn't care about the Boston Red Sox as long as their pockets are full of cash money.
I don't care if the prospects are two of the worst in the history of history, more prospects means better team. More money only means more yacht trips for the zombie woman John Henry.
By the way, it looks like Ben Cherington will be the next GM of the Sox. He's pretty much Theo Epstein Jr. so he should do a solid job. Can't do much worse than giving Lackey, Lugo, Renteria, Cameron, Daisuke, etc. like a billion dollars.
This team, this entire organization lacks accountability. Simple as that.
With a few exceptions, mostly Dusty, the 2011 Red Sox were more worried about what they were going to eat after the game than winning the game.
And ownership was more worried about appealing to those geek ass nerds across the pond in Liverpool and too busy selling effing BRICKS here in Boston to care about the team on the field.
So until they fix that issue, the Red Sox will go right back to the pre-2004 days where they were breaking our hearts years after year.
