REPORT: Scott Zolak Told He Will be the Next GM of the Boston Red Sox

I'm being told that is actually Ben Cherington.

Could've fooled me. He looks a lot like Zo.

Zo would be an awful GM for that matter. Just buying the team Filet O' Fish meals all the time. Spending 10% of the Red Sox payroll money on beer and fried chicken. Instituting mandatory attendance at all Zac Brown Band concerts.

Beckett and John Lackey are reading this right now and praying Scott Zolak really was named as Sox GM.

Anyways, the real deal here is that a source reported today that Ben Cherington has been told he will be the next GM of your Boston Red Sox.

As I said yesterday, Cherington was a more integral part to drafting and development than Theo was and he certainly can't do much worse in free agency.

So I'm cool with Ben Cherington. Maybe he will actually know which free agents will bust their asses for 82.5 mil and which players will sit in the clubhouse eating fried chicken and drinking beer for it.

Fun fact for ya: Ben Cherington was married to ESPN anchor Wendi Nix, but got divorced.

Good move if you ask me. Wendi Nix sucks.

She's just ahead of Shelley Smith, who I'm convinced just camps out at the McDonald's near the Staples Center to continually eat and do random reports about Kobe and the Lakers.

Plus, everybody knows Hannah Storm is the cat's meow these days.
